An established and highly regarded Toronto trattoria, Campagnolo required an identity that crystallized its Northern Italian heritage and communicated the same care and attention evident in Chef Craig Harding’s dishes.
An established and highly regarded Toronto trattoria, Campagnolo required an identity that crystallized its Northern Italian heritage and communicated the same care and attention evident in Chef Craig Harding’s dishes.
Drawing on the graphic language of rustic Italian table wines, Venetian iconography, and the interior of the restaurant itself, we created a menu and identity system that elevates Campagnolo to the level of a venerable institution. The new identity is especially successful in that it feels like a natural expression of the restaurant’s ethos, and speaks eloquently to both regulars and new patrons alike.

This project challenged us to take an established, well-designed company and modernize it without sacrificing 20 years of brand equity. It was of utmost importance to refocus the brand to reflect the defining aspects of their superior coffee: artisanal, sustainable, local and natural. The result is welcoming to new customers, yet sensitive to the existing customer base.

The Aberdeen Tavern is a modern gastropub situated in a picturesque former bank building on Aberdeen Avenue in Hamilton, Ontario. Our aim was to create an identity that feels as historic and established as the building itself, and to position the tavern as a community gathering place.
The identity system consists of a family of marks incorporating classical heraldry paired with modern typography, with special emphasis given to the restaurant’s year of establishment. Although generally included to indicate longevity, in this situation, the year of establishment is a deliberate nod to the ongoing revitalization of downtown Hamilton.
