Art Direction Stamp Design

The Community Foundation Stamp by Canada Post provides funding raised by the sale of the stamp to local and national non-profit groups supporting Canadian children and youth. The mandate is to create a design that speaks to the initiative in a way that is lively, playful, and evokes a childhood exuberance.

Hand painted in watercolour by Senior Designer Joanna Todd, our illustration pairs together a colourful ice cream cone and popsicle. Strolling stick hand in stick hand, their companionship conveys friendship, cooperation, diversity and the sweet taste of icy desserts, a treat no child can resist. The illustration was repurposed for the stamp booklet, a dreamy and surrealistic Official First Day Cover, and complemented by a Day of Issue postmark.
